Cherry blossom season is just around the corner and we have the best suggestion for a day out in Kyoto.
First head out to Heian Jingu Shrine to take in their beautiful cherry blossoms [ranked 2nd in Kyoto]. They currently have over 300 cherry blossom trees of 20 different types. Over half of them are the beni-shidare-zakura (red weeping cherry blossoms).
Viewing time is from the end of March - Mid-April.
Entry fee: Adult: 600 yen, Child: 300 yen
After your morning or afternoon of culture and cherry blossom viewing we recommend popping over to BEER Komachi for a craft beer and some amazing food. This is conveniently located just 10 minutes on foot from Heian Jingu Shrine and has a great atmosphere and an amazing bilingual staff. We recommend ordering one of their many craft beers on tap along with some karage [fried chicken] or a nice sampling of starters or anything else off their menu as we've never been disappointed with any of it. And don't forget to check out their daily specials. The last time we were there we had the lamb chops which were out of this world.
The map below will help navigate you and your thirsty self to BEER Komachi from the Heian Jingu Shrine. Enjoy and say hi to Masae & Simon for us!!!
