Hommage to all the lovely old places lost and gone in the name of so-called progress. To all the mom 'n' pop shops and restaruants, the penny candy stores, the local corner shops, and the corner kisatens [coffee shops], the standing bars and traditional artisan shops that have disappeared, especially in downtown Osaka, we miss you!

The shop pictured in the photo was a small hand crafted hanko [Japanese personal seal] shop, located in the Amerikamura area of Shinsaibashi, Osaka. It was across the road from a kimono textile shop, now gone, and around the corner from a traditional Japanese inn, also gone.
